Rashmika Mandanna's birthday: 5 films to watch before 'Mission Majnu'
Rashmika Mandanna turns 26 today! Ever since her debut, she has shown promise as an actor. And, despite doing just 14 films, Mandanna has emerged as a sought-after actor in the South film industry. She is soon going to debut in Bollywood with Mission Majnu. While wishing her the best, we've listed top five movies starring her that you can watch on her birthday.
'Kirik Party' (2016)
Kirik Party is Mandanna's first film in the Kannada movie industry and overall. For her performance in this movie, Mandanna won a South Indian International Movie Award or SIMA (2017) under the Best Debut (female actor) category. Mandanna defeated Samyuktha Hegde, her co-actor in Kirik Party, to grab the trophy. Directed by Rishab Shetty, it's about a group of engineering students and their lives.
'Anjani Putra' (2017)
Up next is another Kannada film, where Mandanna shared the screen with late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar. Though Anjani Putra was an out and out actioner and was Rajkumar's one man show, Mandanna played her part pretty neatly and confidently. She even went on to bag the Zee Kannada Hemmeya Kannadathi Award under the Best Female Actor category. A Harsha had directed the film.
'Dear Comrade' (2019)
Dear Comrade sits on the third place. This is by far her best Telugu movie as it not only was a good movie, but Mandanna's part was substantial, too. Directed by Bharat Kamma, the film featured Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. The film was about two different people who fall in love with one another and how they beat all odds to be together.
'Chamak' (2017)
Chamak marked Mandanna's third outing as an actor. It had her playing someone who gets married against her wishes only to fall for her husband. Mandanna's character, Kushi, is initially shown as a wild child and after her pregnancy, she undergoes massive transformation. Naturally, she got ample chance to showcase a wide range of emotions in the film and hence, received two nominations.
'Pushpa: The Rise' (2021)
Pushpa: The Rise rounds up the list. The mega budgeter did catapult her to nationwide fame even though she did not have a meaty role in the film. But, the conclusion her character arc received in Pushpa has paved the way for a better sketched-out role for Mandanna in part two that may have Fahadh Faasil as the main antagonist. Happy Birthday, Rashmika!
