Ranveer Singh is enjoying the best phase of his life. With three back-to-back blockbusters, he is certainly on top of his game at the moment. Undoubtedly, after the success of Padmaavat, Simmba and Gully Boy, Ranveer has officially entered the league of superstars. And, if latest reports are anything to go by, he demanded a whopping amount for his next release, '83.
With stardom comes better remuneration and opportunities
2018 was a fulfilling year for Ranveer as he touched the rare milestone of delivering more than Rs. 500 crore at the box office. While Padmaavat raked in around Rs. 300cr, Simmba's collections were close to Rs. 250cr at the box office in India. Meanwhile, his first release of 2019 Gully Boy is also minting gold and will soon be entering Rs. 100cr club.
Ranveer to now demand profit shares for his films
Given his substantial growth, Ranveer has decided to take profit shares from his movies' success from here on, along with a decent remuneration. "Ranveer's equity has seen a meteoric rise. The first choice of producers and directors, Ranveer now has a substantial pie of the profits and filmmakers are sweetening the deal for him by offering him a big margin," a source told BollywoodLife.

According to media reports, Ranveer has struck a deal with '83 makers wherein he will be getting an extensive profit share. "Kabir Khan's '83 has a big profit percentage carved out for Ranveer. In fact, for all films going forward, Ranveer will have profit share chalked out for him," the source added. Notably, Ranveer also got a decent profit share from Rohit Shetty's Simmba.
A story of India's unbelievable triumph in 1983 World Cup
Talking about '83, the movie will track the historical journey of Indian cricket team, which led to their glorious win in the 1983 World Cup. India had beaten West Indies to lift the World Cup for the first time. Interestingly, Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of former cricketer-1983 captain Kapil Dev on the big screen. It'll also trace Kapil's journey to captaincy.

"I remember when Kabir came to me with '83, I was like, 'finally, someone's planning to make a film on this'. It should be exciting to get into the skin of such a legendary player. I am really looking forward to it," Ranveer had said.
'83 to have an ensemble cast, to release in 2020
Helmed by Kabir Khan, '83 will have an ensemble cast with actors from across the country playing roles of the renowned cricketers on the big screen. Actors like Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Zeeshan Ayyub, Hardy Sandhu, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil have been roped in for the movie. '83 is slated to hit the screens in April 20, 2020.
