Ranveer Singh-starrer '83 to release in June: Report
After the central government's decision to allow cinema halls to function with full occupancy, producers are now gearing up to release their pending projects. It was recently reported that Sooryavanshi would be released in April and now fresh reports suggest that Ranveer Singh-starrer sports movie 83 might be out in theaters this June. Here are more details on this.
This is why makers have chosen this slot for '83'
A source revealed to Bollywood Hungama that the makers are planning to release the movie in June as "getting it in theaters before, in April, is not feasible as Sooryavanshi is releasing on April 2 (sic)." "The month of May will see the release of two big films - Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai and Satyameva Jayate 2," added the source.
The movie was earlier supposed to release in 2020
The movie, based on India's Cricket World Cup victory in 1983, was earlier scheduled to be released in April 2020, but it was pushed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The makers then shifted its release to December 2020, but that plan was also eventually dropped. Apart from Singh, the film also stars Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, and Saqib Saleem, among others.
Kapil Dev was initially not in favor of the movie
Interestingly, former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev was initially not in favor of the making of this film. He had said, "I was a little scared. I thought he (Singh) is an actor. You are copying somebody in sports and athleticism. Does he have that much? But, when I spent time with him, I was amazed by how much time he spent (practising)."
Meanwhile, YRF also gearing up for many new releases
Meanwhile, Yash Raj Films (YRF) is also gearing up to release many of its big-ticket movies under the YRF 50 plan. The production house, that recently completed 50 years in showbiz, is planning to announce five new films. Some of its major projects such as Pathan, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Prithviraj, Shamshera, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Bunty Aur Babli 2 will also be out soon.
