Ranveer Singh's big Bollywood break was courtesy Ranbir Kapoor
Ranveer Singh is among the most successful Bollywood actors today but his journey up till here hasn't been easy. The young superstar had to struggle for three years to fetch his maiden Hindi film, 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. Talking about his debut film at an event, Ranveer said that he was called for the auditions only after Ranbir Kapoor had turned it down.
How things fell in place for Ranveer
Revisiting his journey, Ranveer said, "I struggled for three years in Mumbai, with my portfolio in my hand. I went through the routine drill. I made my own luck." "Ranbir Kapoor said no to 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. YRF was looking for a new face and I got a call. I knew this was the opportunity I was waiting for," he added.
Ranveer credits Aditya Chopra for his success
"Aditya Chopra had realized that it was important to give actors break on the basis of talent and not legacy. He started with Anushka Sharma, followed by me. And mine was a great example. A leading man suddenly born out of the sheer auditioning process," Ranveer quips.
The 'Padmaavat' actor has broken the norms
The 32-year-old actor has certainly proved that all one requires to realize his/her dream is to believe in their talent and put in the hard work. That is how, being a total outsider, he bagged a project by a banner as big as Yash Raj Films. Ranveer will be next seen in Rohit Shetty's commercial potboiler 'Simmba.'
