Ranveer Singh-Prasanth Varma's next is mythological film 'Rakshas': Report
It was recently reported that HanuMan director Prasanth Varma is in talks with actor Ranveer Singh to collaborate on an ambitious project. On Monday, more updates about the film surfaced, with a Pinkvilla report suggesting that the movie has been tentatively titled Rakshas. The film, deeply rooted in Indian mythology, forms part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). The script and screenplay for Rakshas are reportedly ready, with pre-visualization stages already completed.
'Rakshas's preparations underway; Singh is impressed with the story
An insider told PV, "Ranveer is blown away by the vision and long-term plans that his director has for the universe and is excited to embark on the journey of Rakshas soon." "Ranveer has met Prasanth Varma and the team multiple times over the last few weeks and has already done a pooja for the film on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Hyderabad." An official announcement is awaited.
The plot and Singh's role are kept under wraps
Rakshas is billed as a historical drama set before India's independence, with a mythological twist. Singh's role will reflect elements of an antagonistic force from Indian mythology. However, specifics about his character's development and journey remain confidential. Singh is reportedly also in talks with Aditya Dhar for another project, which is in its pre-production phase. Shooting for both projects may start in the second half of 2024.
The production house for 'Rakshas' has been selected, too
The filming timelines for both Rakshas and Dhar's upcoming project will be decided within two weeks. Earlier, a source told HT, "Ranveer is interested, and it's almost confirmed, but nothing is finalized yet." The film will be backed by the leading production house Mythri Movie Makers. Notably, Varma is also occupied with the conceptualization of Jai HanuMan, starring Teja Sajja.
Meanwhile, take a look at other projects starring Singh
Singh has several other projects in the pipeline. He is set to appear in Rohit Shetty's highly-awaited police drama Singham Again, where the actor will share screen space with his wife Deepika Padukone, and fellow actors Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. It will be released on August 15. Further, he is slated to feature in Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, co-starring Kiara Advani.
