'Creative differences': Ranveer Singh-Prasanth Varma's 'Rakshas' officially shelved
After weeks of contrasting reports and mounting speculations, the ambitious film Rakshas, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Telugu director Prasanth Varma, officially stands canceled. Singh, Varma, and the production company Mythri Movie Makers confirmed that the film is no longer moving forward and this is "not the ideal time for this project." Despite this setback, all parties involved expressed optimism for future collaborations.
Singh and Varma praised each other
"Recently, rumors have been going around that the film Rakshas which was said to be directed by Prasanth Varma and headlined by powerhouse Ranveer Singh - the duo decided to part ways on the project due to creative differences," read the statement. Despite this, Singh praised Varma as a "very special talent" and expressed hope for future collaboration. Similarly, Varma said, "Ranveer's energy and talent is rare to find. We shall manifest our forces combining soon sometime in the future."
'Some things aren't meant to be'
On a concluding note, the statement added, "Both the parties including Mythri Movie Makers agree that everyone's intentions were right to make it happen but somethings sometimes aren't meant to be at that time." The film was set in the pre-Independence era and was supposed to feature a mythological backdrop. Mythri and Varma have not clarified if they will revive the idea with another actor.

Earlier, contrasting reports led to multiple speculations
Earlier this month, Pinkvilla reported, "They have amicably parted ways due to creative differences. While [Singh] is hearing a lot of scripts, his focus is to invest more time in the family. He is secure with his line-up while continuing to read more to have exciting projects under his kitty." Soon after, a source told HT, "It's absolutely untrue that Prasanth and Ranveer have parted ways due to creative differences in their upcoming film from PCU (Prasanth Cinematic Universe)."
Singh has 'Singham Again' ready for release this year
Singh's upcoming project is Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, where he has a supporting role. He has also been tapped for Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, though it is yet to go on floors. It also stars Kiara Advani. He is reportedly a part of Shaktimaan, though the film has not been announced officially. He was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, released in 2023.
