Ranveer-Deepika to open 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal' fresh season
The lady in white is back! Remember Simi Garewal, who used to host the much-popular-show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, back in 90s? Well, after a gap of 15 years, she's returning with a fresh season of her show. And guess what, this edition will be opened by Bollywood's power couple Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone. Notably, this will be their first joint interview after their marriage.
'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal' hosted several Bollywood celebs
Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, which started in 1997, was inspired by The Oprah Winfrey Show. In its run of over five seasons, the show hosted distinguished personalities from various sectors, like showbiz, politics, sports, etc. They shared several anecdotes from their personal and professional lives on the show. Amitabh-Jaya Bachchan, SRK-Gauri Khan, Anil-Tina Ambani, Aishwarya Rai, Rekha, Hrithik Roshan-Sussanne, were some of her guests.
"Ranveer-Deepika have promised their first interview together for Rendezvous"
Talking about the new season, Simi said that Deepika and Ranveer have promised this interview to her. "I've never revealed names until I've shot the episode. But I'll reveal this, Ranveer-Deepika have promised their first interview together for Rendezvous," the veteran actress told Mid-Day.
Will there be a change in the format?
Simi also spilled beans about the format of the new season, which will apparently remain the same. "Why would I change the format [to include] more gossip and games? Rendezvous is about getting to 'know' the person," she emphasized. The 71-year-old also mentioned that audience is "tired of the present format of talk shows", where it is all about gossips, and games sans research.
For now, Ranveer and Deepika are gearing up for '83
Meanwhile, Ranveer and Deepika are busy shooting for Kabir Khan's '83, which will release next April. The movie chronicles the story of India's glorious victory in the 1983 World Cup, with Ranveer essaying the role of ex-cricket captain Kapil Dev. Deepika, meanwhile, will play the role of Kapil's wife, Romi Dev. To note, this will be DeepVeer's first movie together post their marriage.
