'Gully Boy': Ranveer-Alia's kissing scene chopped by CBFC
It's just a day left for the release of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer Gully Boy and the excitement amongst the audience is palpable. The movie has been grabbing eyeballs not only for its story but also for the pair's steamy onscreen chemistry. But before Gully Boy could see the dawn, it got onto CBFC's radar which trimmed one of Ranveer-Alia's passionate scenes.
Censor board turns sanskari for 'Gully Boy'
This is the first time that Ranveer and Alia have shared the screen space and their sizzling chemistry in the Gully Boy trailer broke the internet. In fact, the fans were eyeing for Ranveer-Alia's steamy scenes in the movie. However, much to their disappointment, CBFC, which got back to its sanskari ways, asked the makers to cut down their 13-second-long kissing scene.
No cuss words in 'Gully Boy' please, says CBFC
Apart from the kissing scene, CBFC has also asked for two other changes which include the elimination of cuss words from the movie. Besides, the name of liquor brand Royal Stag has also been removed from the branding partners of Gully Boy. Notably, this is the first time that CBFC raised an objection over a brand partner, just because it is an alcohol brand.
'Gully Boy' is a story of desi hip-hop culture
Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy revolves around the story of an underdog aspiring rapper. Despite all the odds, he goes on to make big in the world of hip-hop with his exemplary rapping skills. To recall, Gully Boy is based on the lives of street rappers Naved Shaikh aka Naezy and Vivian Fernandes aka Divine.
'Gully Boy' hailed at the Berlin Film Festival
Interestingly, ahead of its release, Gully Boy was premiered at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival 2019 and it opened to impressive reviews there. The critics were all praises for this Zoya Akhtar-directorial and called it Ranveer-Alia's career-best performance.
