Rani Mukerji is gearing up to wear the uniform again in Mardaani 3, returning as a no-nonsense cop.
The film was announced in 2024 and will reportedly go on floors in June. Currently, the makers are busy with pre-production work including look tests of important characters.
According to a Mid-Day report, the team is on the lookout for an actor to play the villain.

'Mardaani 3' will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi
The production team at Yash Raj Films is now fine-tuning the screenplay and holding auditions to rope in new talent.
A large part of the action film will be shot in Mumbai and Delhi, with the main shooting locations already locked.
Apart from these cities, the team is in the process of finalizing a few suitable locations in north India in the coming weeks.

Mukerji expressed excitement about 'Mardaani 3'
When announcing the film in 2024, Mukerji said, "When we set out to make Mardaani 3, we were hoping that we find a script that would take the experience of watching a Mardaani franchise film higher."
She continued, "I am excited about what we have at hand and I'm only hoping that the audience too feels the same after watching Mardaani 3 in theaters!"

Mukerji acknowledged responsibility to meet audience expectations
Mukerji also acknowledged the burden of expectations that comes with the Mardaani franchise.
She said, "Mardaani is an extremely loved franchise and we have a certain responsibility to deliver to the expectation that people have."
Calling Mardaani 3 "dark, deadly, and brutal," she wondered how audiences would react to it.

Abhiraj Minawala to direct 'Mardaani 3'
Abhiraj Minawala, a YRF-nurtured talent, will be directing Mardaani 3.
He was first discovered by Aditya Chopra who allowed him to gain experience by assisting in films like Band Baaja Baaraat, Gunday, Sultan, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Tiger 3.
Currently holding the position of Associate Director of War 2, Minawala has been entrusted with helming the popular Mardaani franchise.
