Rani Mukerji announces new project 'Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway'
Actress Rani Mukerji, who is celebrating her 43rd birthday today, announced her new project Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway on this special occasion. The project is described as "an untold story about a journey of a mother's battle against an entire country." The project is a joint venture between Nikkhil Advani's Emmay Entertainment and Zee Studios and it will be directed by Ashima Chibber.
'One of the most special, significant films of my career'
In her statement, Mukerji said that this will be one of the most special and significant films of her career. "I started my career with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, which was a woman-centric film, and coincidentally in my 25th year, I'm announcing a film that is also centered around a woman's resolve to fight against all odds and take on a country," she added.
'Dedicated to all the mothers out there': Mukerji
The actor also stated that the movie is "a story of true human resilience" and also dedicated it to "all the mothers out there." Though the film's plot has been kept under wraps, reports suggest that it will be based on the story that created waves internationally in 2011 where an Indian couple had their children taken away by Norwegian child welfare services.
'Powerful story of a woman that needs to be told'
Mukerji also expressed her excitement about working with Chibber. "To partner with Ashima Chibber...is something I am looking forward to, whose vision for the film and intent with this project has truly bowled me over. This is a powerful story of a woman that needs to be told. I'm hoping that we will work hard as a team and make magic together...," she added.
Mukerji is awaiting the release of 'Bunty Aur Babli 2'
Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway will also mark Advani's collaboration with Mukerji after 1998's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Advani was an assistant director for the Karan Johar project. Meanwhile, Mukerji, who was last seen in 2019's Mardaani 2, is also awaiting the release of YRF's Bunty Aur Babli 2 on April 23. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and debutant Sharvari Wagh.
