Crime thriller is set in Punjab hinterlands
The show will follow the story of "an innocent man, who is thrown into a deep, drug trafficking conspiracy between gang lords, cops, and political powers." CAT is being dubbed as a crime thriller set against the backdrop of the Punjab hinterlands. Janjua, known for writing films like Saand Ki Aankh and Mubarakan, has helmed the show along with Rupinder Chahal and Anutej Singh.
''CAT' has all elements to appeal to global audience': Hooda
Speaking about the project, the Kick star said, "CAT...has all the elements to appeal to a global audience. It has given me an opportunity to explore new facets as an actor in a simple but intriguing script." Produced by Movie Tunnel Productions in association with Jelly Bean Entertainment, Janjua has also co-written the script along with Chahal, Anil Rodhan, and Jimmy Singh.
This is Hooda-Janjua's second collaboration
Tracing back, the project was announced in September last year. With Hooda as a gangster, the story was reported to be capturing two timelines—1991 and 2005. Around the same time, the shoot had begun in Punjab. Notably, CAT will mark Hooda's second collaboration with Janjua after Tera Kya Hoga Lovely. Hooda will be starring opposite Ileana D'Cruz in this one.
