'Jagga Jasoos' failure broke my heart and bank: Ranbir Kapoor
Not many actors are grounded enough to gracefully accept the failures of their films. Ranbir Kapoor, who started his Bollywood journey with a box office dud ('Saawariya'), always had a reality check that didn't let the subsequent success go to his head. In a recent interview, Ranbir opened up about the failure of 'Jagga Jasoos' and how it affected him.
Ranbir had given his all to 'Jagga Jasoos'
Being his maiden production venture, 'Jagga Jasoos' was extremely special to Ranbir. "When the film did not work, it broke my heart and my bank," he said. The Kapoor lad further added that his character in the film looked pretty simple and basic but a lot of work went behind it to make it appear so.
Here's what went wrong for the film, according to Ranbir
"I think we had too much on our plate - firstly, it was a detective film, the character stammers, it's a musical, he's finding his father, there is a love story, it's episodic - so it was very hard," Ranbir said.
He's now looking to more than make up for it
After his last few releases couldn't garner the expected response from the audience, Ranbir now looks set to redeem himself with Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju'. The film is already being dubbed as the actor's best work to date. Post 'Sanju', Ranbir will be seen in Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra', Karan Malhotra's 'Shamshera' and Luv Ranjan's next that also stars Ajay Devgn.
