Ranbir Kapoor's cousin Armaan Jain summoned by Enforcement Directorate
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued summons to actor Armaan Jain in connection with a money laundering case. Earlier this week, a search was conducted at his residence in Mumbai, where he lives with his family. For the unversed, Jain is the grandson of late filmmaker Raj Kapoor, and the cousin of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Here are more details on this.
Jain's name cropped up during a money laundering probe
Reportedly, Jain's name cropped up during the ED's investigation into a money laundering case related to Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik. According to reports, he is a close friend of Sarnaik's son Vihang, who is under ED's scanner in the said case. Vihang has been questioned by ED officials twice, who also collected data from his mobile phone.
ED allegedly found some suspicious communication
India Today reports that ED officials had found some suspicious communication between Jain and Vihang, after which the search was conducted at his residence. Some correspondence between Jain and Vihang was about financial and business transactions, reports say. In November last year, ED officials had conducted raids at the office and residence of Sarnaik, after which Vihang was brought in for questioning.
Jain is cousins with Ranbir, Kareena, Karisma Kapoor
Jain is the son of Rima Jain, who is the sister of actor Randhir Kapoor and late actor Rishi Kapoor. He is the cousin of actors Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. His brother, Aadar Jain is also an actor. Jain's uncle and Rima's brother, actor Rajiv Kapoor recently passed away due to a heart attack.
A brief about Jain's life and career
Jain had made his Bollywood debut with the 2014 film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, opposite Deeksha Seth. The film failed at the box office, and Jain has not appeared in any movie since. He had also assisted in films such as Student of the Year, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, and My Name is Khan. He tied the knot with Anissa Malhotra last year.
