Ranbir Kapoor-led 'Shamshera' to release in July, faces no competition
Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming period film Shamshera is set for a theatrical release on July 22, its producer Yash Raj Films confirmed on Thursday. The release date was shared in a teaser featuring all the three lead actors—Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt—and we also see the trio talk about the titular character. "Karam se dacait, dharam se azaad," is the tagline of Shamshera.
What does the teaser show?
The 1:10-minute-long teaser starts with Dutt saying this is the story of someone who was of the opinion that slavery doesn't serve any purpose to anyone. Then, we see Vaani talk about the titular character followed by Kapoor emphatically saying nobody gives you freedom, it is always fought for. It ends with Kapoor repeating the film's tagline and the release date completes the clip.
These are the other films releasing in July
At the box office, Shamshera currently doesn't face any competition. Meanwhile, the movies releasing before the period drama in July this year include Ek Villain Returns, which should arrive on July 8, and Phone Bhoot, which is poised for a July 15 outing. Thank God is expected to release on July 29, so being a solo release could be a good move for Shamshera.
