What's the story

A few fans of Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor have been accused of harassing a social media user who criticized Kapoor's upcoming role in Nitesh Tiwari's epic film, Ramayana.

The accuser claims her photos were manipulated and shared online without her consent after she expressed dissatisfaction with leaked images from the movie set.

These images—circulated last week—revealed Kapoor and Sai Pallavi's debut look as Lord Ram and Sita.

Here's how it all started

In a tweet shared on April 27, a woman (the victim) responded to criticism of Kapoor's depiction of Lord Ram, noting similarities to his roles in Sanju and Animal.

Her comment, "Range so good I can't even find the difference between three characters," sparked a backlash from the actor's ardent fans.

Following her tweet, she revealed facing cyberbullying, with her photos manipulated into defamatory content distributed online by Kapoor's supporters.

About the leaked look

Leaked images were removed by the film's team

Over the past weekend, leaked photos surfaced online, revealing Kapoor and Pallavi in their rumored roles as Lord Ram and Sita on the sets of Ramayana—the shooting of which commenced earlier this month.

The leaked images, capturing the actors in full costume, quickly circulated online before being removed by the film's team.

Planned as a trilogy, Ramayana is slated for release in 2025.
