'Rana Naidu' trailer promises intense battle between Venkatesh-Rana Daggubati
Several months after its announcement at the Netflix Tudum event, the trailer of Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati starrer crime-action series Rana Naidu is finally out! The streamer unveiled the trailer on Wednesday night (February 15). The series is set to premiere on March 10. It has been created by Karan Anshuman and Suparn Varma, and it co-stars Ashish Vidyarthi and Surveen Chawla.
Why does this story matter?
High hopes are pinned on Rana Naidu because it pits the two Tollywood stars against each other; Venkatesh is Rana's uncle in real life. It has also joined the ever-growing list of foreign-to-Indian adaptations and is based on Ray Donovan. Some other shows constructed in a similar vein are the unreleased The Night Manager on Disney+ Hotstar and Tanaav on Sony Liv (Fauda's adaptation).
Trailer promises numerous fights between the two protagonists
The 2:37-minute-long trailer begins by shedding light on Rana, who is described as a "fixer for the stars," involved in "almost every Bollywood scandal." We are expecting some meta-commentary with those references! High-octane action sequences and verbal fights follow as Venkatesh appears on the scene, Rana's father who he doesn't get along with. As is the case with OTT shows, expletives abound, too.
Here's what the makers said about the series
Talking about the series, the makers said, "Rana Naidu is a series that combines heart-pounding action with heartfelt drama." "Rana, a celebrity fixer, and Naga (Venkatesh), his estranged father, come together onscreen for the first time and pack each episode with both chemistry and kinetic energy that will have you on the edge of your seats throughout (sic)," they added.
Cast and crew behind the series
Apart from the aforementioned actors, the show also stars several other noted names such as Anuj Khurana, Rajesh Jais, Sushant Singh, Ashwin Mushran, Gaurav Chopra, and Flora Saini. The visual effects are by Jishon.N.Shoby (RRR, Farzi), while the editing is done by Ninad Khanolkar (Hasmukh) and Manan Mehta (Mirzapur). To note, the series is the first OTT outing for both Rana and Venkatesh.
