Superstar Rajinikanth is currently preparing for his much-awaited film Vettaiyan, which has already sparked significant excitement on social media following the release of its initial teaser in January. Recently, speculation has arisen regarding Rana Daggubati's role in the forthcoming movie, who may be cast as the antagonist. However, an official statement from the makers of Vettaiyan regarding these speculations is still awaited.
Daggubati's character to misuse technology to pose trouble
A rumor has surfaced that says Daggubati's character is going to be a tech enthusiast who misuses modern technology by hacking and bugging software and devices. The film's theme is said to revolve around criminal activities within the education system. Rajinikanth will be seen in the role of a police officer advocating for social justice in a plot reportedly based on true events. The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions.
'Vettaiyan's intriguing poster unveiled, release slated for October
The team behind Vettaiyan recently released an intriguing poster on X/Twitter with the caption, "The mark is too high. VETTAIYAN is slated to take over cinemas this October, (sic)." However, no date has been locked yet. The film's title was announced in December 2023, coinciding with Rajinikanth's 73rd birthday. The movie features a stellar cast and is directed by TJ Gnanavel, known for his 2021 release Jai Bhim.
Who is behind 'Vettaiyan'?
Earlier in January, the makers revealed the official first-look poster of Vettaiyan, featuring two images of Rajinikanth in a commanding role. Exuding swagger, the Thalaivar was seen donning a salt-and-pepper look and wayfarer glasses in both images. Coming to the crew, Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the music, with SR Kathir handling the cinematography and Philomin Raj overseeing the editing. Anbumani and Arivumani (Anbariv) duo will supervise the stunts.
Meet the stellar cast of 'Vettaiyan'
Vettaiyan boasts a star-studded cast including Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rao Ramesh, Rakshan, and G.M. Sundar. This project marks a notable reunion between Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, their first since the 1991 film, Hum. In addition to Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth has also committed to a project with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj on Thalaivar 171 (tentatively title), a project featuring music by Ravichander, with the title reveal expected on August 22.
