'Ramayana': Yash starts filming in December, Sunny joins in 2025
The highly-awaited upcoming film Ramayana, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, has generated significant buzz since its announcement. With a star-studded cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Sai Pallavi, excitement has only increased. In a recent update, a source informed Pinkvilla that Kapoor, who will portray Ram in the film, has already completed 90% of his work for Part One, further heightening anticipation for the film.
Yash to begin filming in December after 'Toxic': Report
The insider further informed the portal that Yash, who will be playing Ravana in the film reportedly, will start shooting in December. He will begin filming for Ramayana after wrapping up a major portion of his next film, Toxic, directed by Geethu Mohandas. The source said, "Yash has undergone several look tests for his character in Ramayana and is all set to start shooting in December." "He is excited to explore one of the most complex characters from Ramayana."
Deol to start shooting for Hanuman role in 2025
The source also revealed that Yash will continue shooting for Ramayana: Part One till the first quarter of 2025. After that, Deol will take charge as Lord Hanuman in the Summer of 2025. "Sunny Deol takes up Ramayana after finishing his work on Border 2. Much like Ranbir, Sunny Deol has also allotted bulk dates to Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra to shoot for his part in the Ramayana Franchise," the source said.
'Team confident to bring 'Ramayana' on spectacle in 2026'
The source also shared that the VFX work for the film is going on in full swing. The shoot for the epic with all characters is expected to conclude by August 2025. "The team is confident to bring Ramayana on the spectacle in 2026. It's a labor of love from the team of Ramayana to the audience, and they are leaving no stone unturned to make a film that represents India at a global level," they said.
