'Ramayana': We finally know why Nitesh chose Ranbir as Ram
Ranbir Kapoor, one of Bollywood's most versatile actors, is set to portray Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming film Ramayana. The two-part epic saga promises to be a cinematic spectacle with compelling narrative. However, Kapoor's casting decision has piqued the interest of fans and film industry insiders alike. Mukesh Chhabra, the film's casting director, recently shed light on why Kapoor was chosen for this iconic role.
'He has a calmness on his face...'
In a recent episode of The Ranveer Show podcast, Chhabra discussed the rationale behind Kapoor's casting. He said, "Uske chehre pe calmness hai, woh toh chahiye thi na...Nitesh (Tiwari) ne bahot pehle hi soch lia tha unko. Ye bahot sahi decision hai. Wo aapko maloom chalega film aane ke baad (He has a calmness on his face...Nitesh Tiwari thought about casting him quite earlier. It is a great decision and the audience will realize after watching the film)."
'Casting for 'Ramayana' cannot be calculated or manipulated'
Further, Chhabra emphasized that casting for a film like Ramayana cannot be "calculated or manipulated." He said the team has to be honest while selecting actors for specific roles. He added that he looks for actors whose vibe aligns with the film. Chhabra also revealed that the casting for Ramayana: Part Two is underway, and he often casts big actors in character roles, regardless of their off-screen persona.
'Ramayana' cast includes Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol
In addition to Kapoor, Ramayana reportedly features Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol in pivotal roles as Sita, Raavan, and Lord Hanuman respectively. Many reports suggest that a Hanuman spin-off might be in the pipeline, potentially serving as the third part of this saga. With this impressive lineup of actors and an intriguing narrative, Ramayana is poised to be a cinematic event to watch out for, potentially in April, 2025.
