'Ramayana' filming temporarily halted because of copyright infringement case
The filming of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, has reportedly been halted due to a copyright infringement case. The production began earlier this year at Mumbai's Film City and faced several challenges, including a change in production hands and costume reworking. Despite these hurdles, shooting continued until producer Madhu Mantena requested a suspension of filming until he is paid his appropriate compensation. Mantena had recently exited the mega-mythological saga.
'Ramayana' production likely to resume in 3 weeks
An insider told Mid-day that "filming will only resume after a consensus is reached on the matter." Despite the temporary halt in filming, sources from the production house have reassured fans that Tiwari's Ramayana has not been shelved. The shooting is expected to recommence within three weeks. "The legalities need to be sorted out," said the source, emphasizing that a resolution on Mantena's compensation claim is awaited before filming can resume.
'Ramayana' is going to be a 2-part saga, not trilogy
The delay in filming is reportedly due to scheduling conflicts with the lead actors. Kapoor is committed to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's project Love & War later this year, while Sunny Deol has filming lined up for Border 2. The film will be shot in two parts with a six-month gap between the release of the first and second installments, an earlier report stated. According to Pinkvilla, the team is envisioning Ramayana as a grand two-part saga instead of a trilogy.
