Double iSmart has joined the ranks of films that have made their digital debut within four weeks of their theatrical release. Despite high expectations due to the blockbuster status of its predecessor, the film was let down by poor writing and a weak storyline. This resulted in one of the biggest box-office disappointments of the year for Tollywood.
'Double iSmart' box office performance and plot revealed
Despite a promising start, Double iSmart's box office performance was hampered by negative reviews. On its first day, the film earned ₹7.35 crore, with Telugu contributing around ₹6.9 crore and Hindi around ₹0.5 lakh. However, it failed to maintain this momentum during the long Independence Day holiday weekend, collecting only ₹1.5 crore on the second day (Friday) and ₹1.3 crore on the third day (Saturday).
'Double iSmart' plot revolves around a notorious criminal
The film's plot centers on a notorious criminal, Big Bull, who has managed to evade capture for years. Upon discovering his terminal brain tumor, he hires a rogue scientist to transfer his mind into another body - Ustaad Ismart Shankar. The film also features actors like Nidhhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh in pivotal roles, while Sanjay Dutt played the character of Bull in the show.
