Despite high expectations due to the blockbuster status of its predecessor, the film was let down by poor writing and a weak storyline. This resulted in one of the biggest box-office disappointments of the year for Tollywood.
'Double iSmart' box office performance and plot revealed
Despite a promising start, Double iSmart's box office performance was hampered by negative reviews. On its first day, the film earned ₹7.35 crore, with Telugu contributing around ₹6.9 crore and Hindi around ₹0.5 lakh. However, it failed to maintain this momentum during the long Independence Day holiday weekend, collecting only ₹1.5 crore on the second day (Friday) and ₹1.3 crore on the third day (Saturday).
'Double iSmart' plot revolves around a notorious criminal
The film's plot centers on a notorious criminal, Big Bull, who has managed to evade capture for years. Upon discovering his terminal brain tumor, he hires a rogue scientist to transfer his mind into another body - Ustaad Ismart Shankar. The film also features actors like Nidhhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh in pivotal roles, while Sanjay Dutt played the character of Bull in the show.
