Rakesh Roshan shares how daughter Sunaina battled cancer, liver disease

Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who himself survived throat cancer in 2019, recently opened up about how he draws inspiration from his daughter Sunaina Roshan's courage.
Speaking to News18 Showsha for the documentary The Roshans (Netflix), he spoke about her struggles with cervical cancer, fatty liver disease, and brain tuberculosis.
"She went through a lot of illnesses and surgeries right since her childhood," he said.

'She has always been a very happy person': Roshan
Roshan praised Sunaina's courage and positive attitude.
He said, "She went through a lot of illnesses and surgeries right since her childhood. But she always been very brave and used to laugh at the face of hardships. She has always been a very happy person and that that taught me a lot."
He added, "I believe that no matter what the situation is, we should be happy and content."
Personal struggles
Roshan's approach to personal challenges and support system
Roshan also revealed how Sunaina's positivity helped him deal with his own health problems and a shooting incident in 2000.
He said, "I took it very lightly even when I got shot. I used to joke with them even then so that they don't feel that life is going toward a darker space."
"I did the same thing when I got cancer. Hrithik and I were working out on the morning of the day I was going for my surgery."
Family support
Roshan acknowledged wife Pinkie's unwavering support
Apart from drawing strength from his daughter, Roshan also credited his wife, Pinkie Roshan, for her unwavering support.
He thanked her for understanding and adjusting, despite being from a rich family.
"She married me when I was earning ₹200 as an AD. She took up 80% of the burden and said that she's happy with me," he shared.
He also credited this quick recovery to mental strength, saying overcoming hardships quickly depends on one's mindset.
