Interesting reason why Rajkummar Rao dropped Yadav from his surname
Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao, who is basking in the success of his latest release Stree 2, has opened up about why he changed his surname from Yadav to Rao. In a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, the actor clarified that his decision was a personal choice to avoid confusion among other namesake celebrities in Bollywood.
Rao's passport only has his first name
Rao said, "Maine kabhi surname use kiya nahi tha. Mere passport mein bhi sirf Rajkummar hi tha (I had never used a surname before. Even in my passport, it's just Rajkummar)." He explained that the name change was to avoid confusion with other Rajkumars in the industry, such as Rajkumar Hirani and Rajkumar Santoshi. "Rao is a title which is given to Yadavs, so I started using it."
'Stree 2' surpasses expectations at the box office
Meanwhile, Stree 2, starring Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, with worldwide collections crossing ₹500 crore. Speaking about the film's success, Rao said in an interview with News18, "We were sure that the film would get a lot of love because of the love that Stree 1 got... But these numbers are way above our expectations."
'It's a very humbling experience,' says Rao
Rao expressed his gratitude for the audience's response to Stree 2, saying, "These numbers... they mean that those many people have seen the film. Whatever the number is, it means that people have made an effort to go to the theater to watch your film. That is very gratifying for me." The movie, helmed by Amar Kaushik, will soon birth a third part.
