Rajkummar, Janhvi's film now titled 'Roohi'; gets a release date
More and more films are now securing dates for a theatrical release after the central government's decision to allow full occupancy in cinema halls. Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer Roohi has also been given a release date. The film will hit the theaters on March 11, 2021, and its trailer will be out tomorrow. The movie was earlier titled "Roohi Afzana." Here's more.
'Magic of cinema returns'
The movie's team took to social media to share a new teaser clip, which showed Kapoor dressed like a bride while Rao and Varun Sharma are seen in a groom's attire. Kapoor captioned the Instagram post, "Iss Bhootiya Shaadi mein aapka swagat hai! #MagicOfCinemaReturns; movie releases 11th March (sic)." Roohi has been directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films.

'Roohi': A horror comedy
The film is touted to be a horror-comedy, on the lines of the 2018 surprise hit Stree, which also starred Rao. Reports suggest that the movie is a part of Vijan's horror-comedy universe and would further Stree's story. The film will reportedly tell the story of a ghost who abducts brides during their honeymoons. It was earlier delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Hoping 'Roohi' rekindles audience's romance with silver screen"
The producer of the movie, Vijan said, "We are all storytellers driven by our love for cinema in all its vibrant forms." "With a partner like Jio Studios that shares our passion for the eponymous "bada parda," we hope Roohi rekindles the audience's long standing romance with the silver screen. It is a film tailor made to be viewed at your nearest theater (sic)."
Many movies looking for a theatrical release now
Theaters across the country were shut down last year due to the pandemic and since then fans have been waiting to watch their favorite stars on the big screen. Now, with the restrictions lifted, producers are looking to release their pending projects in cinemas. Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi, Ranveer Singh-starrer 83, and Salman Khan's Radhe are also all set to hit the theaters soon.
