Trailer: Rajkummar-Janhvi's 'Mr. & Mrs. Mahi' bound by cricket, love
Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor are set to reunite for the sports drama Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, scheduled to hit theaters on May 31. Following the buzz generated by its "imperfectly perfect partnership" posters, Dharma Productions dropped the trailer of the film on Sunday. In the nearly three-minute clip, the essence of the film's storyline unfolds. Shared across social media platforms, the caption exclaimed, "Love hits a sixer!"
Why does this story matter?
The film, directed by Sharan Sharma, marks the second time Rao and Kapoor have teamed up, following Roohi (2021). The film is a joint venture between Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta's Dharma Productions, and Zee Studios. Up until now, plot details were tightly under wraps. The only thing known was that Kapoor and Rao's characters are named Mahima and Mahendra in the movie.
A heartwarming tale of love, intertwined with passion for cricket!
The universe conspires to bring together two individuals named Mahi (Rao and Kapoor) who—despite differing backgrounds—find love. While Rao's Mahi is a shopkeeper, Kapoor's Mahi is a doctor. However, their paths intersect when their mutual love for cricket becomes apparent. For Rao's character, cricket was once a cherished dream, and now, he sees that dream reflected in his wife. Will they overcome their challenges and fulfill their shared dreams?

'Say Shava Shava' song recreated for the film
As the trailer stole our hearts, another intriguing detail emerged: the reimagining of the song Say Shava Shava from Johar's iconic film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). However, this recreation doesn't cover the entire song. Instead, the focus lies on the stanza that kicks off with the line Dekho Tainu Pehli Pehli Baar Ve. This revamped rendition is set to play a pivotal role in a significant scene between Rao and Kapoor.
Glance: Quick look at Kapoor and Rao's upcoming projects
In addition to Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, both Kapoor and Rao have intriguing projects in the pipeline. Kapoor is set to make her Telugu debut in Devara, opposite Jr NTR, and will also appear in Ulajh, due for release later this year. Meanwhile, Rao is enjoying the success of his recently released film Srikanth, a biographical drama about visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bholla. He will next appear in the Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video alongside Triptii Dimri.
