Rajinikanth's 'Vettaiyan' rakes in ₹80L from US premiere day sales
Rajinikanth's highly-awaited upcoming film, Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel, has already generated significant revenue ahead of its official release. The movie has reportedly sold over 4K tickets for its premiere day shows in the US, amassing nearly $97K (approximately ₹80 lakh) from almost 100 shows. This financial success comes on the heels of Rajinikanth's previous hit Jailer, which grossed over ₹600 crore globally.
'Vettaiyan' marks Rajinikanth-Bachchan's reunion after 32 years
Vettaiyan features a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, marking his on-screen reunion with Rajinikanth after a gap of 32 years. The last time these two megastars shared screen space was for Mukul S Anand's Hum. The film also stars Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, and Ritika Singh in pivotal roles. Vettaiyan is scheduled for release on October 10, coinciding with the Dussehra festival.

Interestingly, the film will face stiff competition at the box office from Alia Bhatt's Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrerVicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Despite this, the preview of Vettaiyan has already surpassed 10M views, indicating high audience anticipation. The music for Vettaiyan has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who also makes a cameo in the song Manasilaayo. The film's plot revolves around a retired police officer (Rajinikanth) who challenges the system.
