Superstar Rajinikanth's action thriller, Jailer, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar, will be making its way to Japanese theaters on February 21.
The film, released in 2023, has already received global acclaim, having raked in a whopping ₹650 crore worldwide and broken records with its opening day earnings.
This international success has also resulted in the announcement of a sequel, Jailer 2, which is currently in the works.

'Jailer' to continue Rajinikanth's legacy in Japan
Rajinikanth's popularity in Japan goes back to his 1995 film Muthu, which became a massive hit after Japanese film critic Jun Edoki recommended it to distributors.
The film set a box office record for South Indian films that remained unbroken until RRR in 2022.
Now, with Jailer hitting the screens, Rajinikanth is all set to carry forward this legacy of success in the Japanese market.

'Jailer' set new records in Rajinikanth's career
Jailer has already become a global blockbuster, raking in ₹650 crore globally.
The film's opening day was a record-breaker with overseas distributor Ayngaran International reporting ₹33 crore in revenue. This was also the highest first-day collection in Rajinikanth's career.
It co-stars Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar, Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff, and a few other big names from Telugu and Tamil cinema.

'Jailer's music and sequel announcement
The film's music, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has also been a major draw, with the song Kaavaalaa going viral.
After the success of Jailer, Sun Pictures announced a sequel, with Ravichander returning to compose the music and Dilipkumar back in the director's chair.
A teaser for Jailer 2 was released, featuring a cyclone warning and a humorous exchange between Ravichander and Dilipkumar as they brainstorm ideas for the new film.
