Rajesh Khanna's granddaughter to debut opposite Big B's grandson: Report
What's the story
Naomika Saran, Bollywood's first superstar Rajesh Khanna's granddaughter, is all set for her acting debut if reports are to be believed.
The 21-year-old will be launched by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films in a romantic comedy, PeepingMoon reported.
Notably, she will be sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda.
The film will be a typical Maddock-style commercial love story with vibrant music, dance, and compelling family drama.
Directorial debut
Jagdeep Sidhu to helm Saran's debut film
The yet-to-be-titled film will reportedly be helmed by acclaimed Punjabi filmmaker Jagdeep Sidhu.
Sidhu, who is known for his successful films like Qismat, Qismat 2, Shadaa, and Jatt & Juliet 3, will be making his Hindi cinema debut as a director with this project.
Earlier, he had worked as a dialogue writer on biopics like Saand Ki Aankh and Srikanth.
Acting aspirations
Saran's journey to Bollywood and Nanda's career
Bearing a striking resemblance to her grandmother Dimple Kapadia, Saran has always dreamt of an acting career.
Born to Khanna's younger daughter Rinke Khanna and businessman Sameer Saran, she was recently spotted at the screening of her uncle Akshay Kumar's film Sky Force.
Meanwhile, Nanda made his acting debut with Netflix India's The Archies and is currently shooting Sriram Raghavan's Arun Kheterpal biopic Ikkis.
Production pipeline
Maddock Films's upcoming projects and horror-comedy universe
The film starring Saran and Nanda is a major addition to Maddock Films's ambitious slate.
The production house has over a dozen films in different stages of production. It also recently announced eight new films under its successful horror-comedy universe.
This project is hugely significant as it unites the grandchildren of two of Indian cinema's greatest icons—Bachchan and Khanna—on screen, half a century after the legendary actors co-starred in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's cult classics Anand (1971) and Namak Haraam (1973).
