'Sky Force' and 'Lahore 1947' to kickstart the year
One of the most awaited films of 2025 is Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, an action-packed aerial war drama based on true events from India's military history. Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, the film features Kumar as an Air Force officer. Initially slated for an October 2024 release, it was postponed to January 2025 due to post-production work. Another historical drama creating buzz is Sunny Deol's Lahore 1947 (January 26), directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and backed by Aamir Khan.

Lahore 1947, based on the famous play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya O Jamyai Nai by Asghar Wajahat, stars Preity Zinta and Deol's son Karan Deol. The film also marks a reunion for Deol and Santoshi after two decades. Speaking about their relationship, Santoshi told ETimes, "Sunny and I have always shared a deep mutual respect and a strong desire to collaborate on films." "Our director-actor bond is truly unique...I'm thrilled to reunite with him."
Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor to make theatrical debut
2025 will also witness the theatrical debut of Aamir's son Junaid Khan and Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor. They will be seen in the Hindi remake of a 2022 Tamil film, directed by Advait Chandan. The romantic film is set to release on February 7, aiming to capitalize on the Valentine's Day spirit. This marks the second film for both lead actors, with their first films Maharaj and The Archies respectively released on Netflix.
