'Newton' actor Raghubir Yadav not paying proper alimony to ex-wife
Senior actor Raghubir Yadav, who has been critically acclaimed for his roles in Newton, Sui Dhaaga, Bhouri, grabbed headlines after his ex-wife called out on him for not paying the alimony. Reportedly, Raghubir's first wife Purnima alleged that the Lagaan actor has not been paying the monthly alimony of Rs. 40,000 to her. She further alleged that last year, Raghubir's cheque bounced.
Purnima rubbishes Raghubir's allegations of her extra-marital affair
Raghubir and Purnima, who got married in 1988, parted ways in 1996. Reportedly, Raghubir had alleged that Purnima was a club dancer and had an extra-marital affair. However, Purnima vehemently dismissed the allegations. "Raghubir's allegations that I dance in Press club, stay with 5 men are all hogwash. I really don't need to give him my character certificate," she told Spotboye.
Purnima depends on Raghubir's alimony for her living
Furthermore, Purnima stated that Raghubir has been failing to give her money for several months at a stretch. She also claimed that she is suffering a severe financial crisis and depends on the alimony amount, for the most part. "My landlord has asked me to vacate the flat soon, and I really don't have much money for paying rent," Purnima added.
Son is all grown-up, difficult to bear expenses: Purnima
"Recently, in November, his cheque even bounced. Our son Aanchal is now a grown-up boy. It has become very difficult for me to maintain so many expenses in life. At times, I have to send him the summons," Purnima was quoted saying.
Once Purnima thrashed Raghubir, 'he raised his hand first'
Their eight years of marriage also saw frequent domestic violence incidents, with Purnima admitting of thrashing Raghubir once. However that was in self-defense, she says. "Yes, I did. That's because he raised his hand on me first. Why would I take it lying down?" Purnima asked. Raghubir's film-career started in 1985 with Massey Sahib, in which he played the title role.
