'Radhe Shyam' OTT release: Prabhas-starrer to start streaming April 1
Radhe Shyam finally got its digital premiere date! Starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, the romantic drama is set to hit Amazon Prime Video on April 1. The magnum opus will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on the platform. Radhe Shyam released in cinemas on March 11, which means it is hitting Prime Video just three weeks after its theatrical outing.
Why does this story matter?
Radhe Shyam was reportedly made on a humongous budget of Rs. 300cr and had to earn Rs. 200cr to reach its break-even point. However, reports said the film's collection stood at (roughly) Rs. 214cr, meaning Radhe Shyam is a huge failure commercially. So, it is rather a smart move to release the movie on OTT. At least, that way makers can recover some costs.
What does Prime Video's announcement say?
On Monday, Amazon Prime Video wrote in its announcement, "Hop on this magical journey of love with #RadheShyamOnPrime, April 1," alongside a short promo. In the Radha Krishna Kumar-directorial, Prabhas plays a palmist and Hegde is a doctor. Earlier, reports had suggested an OTT giant had offered Rs. 400cr for a direct-to-digital premiere before its theatrical release, but the makers had refused the same.

What about the other recently released Telugu films?
As far as other recently released Telugu films are concerned, Bheemla Nayak has already hit aha and Disney+ Hotstar and so did Khiladi. On the other hand, there's no update as to when RRR will hit the digital arena. It is currently running in cinema halls, setting the cash registers on fire. RRR has collected Rs. 500cr (worldwide) in its opening weekend, reports said.
Other upcoming films of Prabhas, Hegde
Separately, Prabhas has several interesting projects in the pipeline, including the mythological drama Adipurush, Prashanth Neel's Salaar, Nag Ashwin's Project K with Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone, and Spirit. Meanwhile, Hegde will next be seen in the Tamil film Beast co-starring Vijay. Touted to be a high-octane action drama, the Nelson Dilipkumar-directorial is set to release on April 13.
