'Radhe Shyam' makers voluntarily shorten runtime by 12 minutes!
Pan-Indian superstar Prabhas will greet us with Radhe Shyam this Friday. And, latest reports suggest makers are giving it their all to make the film more fitting for the audience who have waited three years to see Prabhas on the big screens (after 2019's Saaho). So, what did they do? Reportedly, multiple cuts and additions were incorporated, thereby shortening the runtime by 12 minutes.
What were the modifications made by makers?
Bollywood Hungama reported the modifications by citing the voluntary modification list that Radhe Shyam makers submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). A total of 56 modifications were carried out, of which 49 came from the makers' end. Some scenes were trimmed by a few seconds but a couple of sequences were cut by two-five minutes. A few additions were made, too.
Will these last-minute changes help the movie?
In total, the report states makers have removed footage amounting to 23 minutes while adding scenes worth 11 minutes, taking the total length to 2:18 hours, or 138 minutes. While we don't know if these last-minute changes will improve or worsen the feel of the movie, experts say a shortened runtime would benefit the theater businesses, allowing them to squeeze in more shows.
AP government recently revised ticket prices and categories
Separately, the Andhra Pradesh government recently revised the ticket prices in the state. Accordingly, the government will allow makers to appeal to permit cinemas to increase ticket prices above what was decided by the state if the cost of production, excluding the fees of the lead actors, exceeds Rs. 100cr. The Prabhas-led film falls in this category and has requested a Rs. 100 hike.
Meanwhile, 'Radhe Shyam' pre-booking has opened in some states
Reports say the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led AP government is yet to respond to Radhe Shyam makers' appeal. Experts expect the state to allow a Rs. 50 hike per ticket for the multilingual venture made on a whopping budget of Rs. 300cr. Meanwhile, pre-bookings have started in some states. Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, Radhe Shyam co-stars Pooja Hegde in the lead. (Source: Bollywood Hungama)
