Box office: Dhanush's 'Raayan' sees significant drop in earnings
Dhanush's Tamil film, Raayan, has witnessed a substantial decrease in box office collections on its eighth day of release. Despite an initially robust performance, the movie's earnings have notably declined, suggesting a loss in its box office momentum. Since hitting the screens on July 26, the action-packed Tamil and Telugu film has garnered significant attention and impressive revenues. It is Dhanush's 50th film and he has also written and helmed it.
'Raayan' earnings drop to ₹2.75 crore on eighth day
In its first week, Raayan raked in an estimated ₹60.10 crore net in India. However, on the eighth day, the film's earnings plummeted to approximately ₹2.75 crore net, bringing its total to ₹62.85 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. The film's Tamil occupancy was recorded at 20.39% on Friday. It boasts a star-studded cast including SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Prakash Raj, and Saravanan.
'Raayan' was produced on a budget of ₹90 crore
Raayan, a crime thriller set in North Chennai, was reportedly produced with a total budget of ₹90 crore, covering both production and marketing costs. Dhanush dedicated nearly six months to perfecting his second directorial effort with a significant focus on post-production. The plot centers around an innocent man who becomes deeply involved in the criminal underworld after his family is murdered. It clashed with Deadpool & Wolverine upon its release.
