Quentin Tarantino to direct few episodes of 'Justified: City Primeval'
While movie lovers have been widely speculating about what would be acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's 10th and possibly last film, he seems to be focusing on the small screen for now. As per a new report, the Kill Bill helmer is likely to direct one or two episodes of FX's limited series, Justified: City Primeval. Here's what we know about this.
Timothy Olyphant will once again play Raylan Givens in show
Deadline reported the filmmaker is in "early talks" to helm one or two episodes of the aeries. However, nothing is confirmed about his participation. The new version of the Western crime show will once again have Timothy Olyphant playing US Marshal Raylan Givens after his stint in the original series Justified. Notably, Olyphant was part of Tarantino's recent venture—Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
This is another reason why Tarantino might do it
Olyphant, an executive producer on the project, isn't the only reason why Tarantino's association makes sense. The filmmaker is a known admirer of Elmore Leonard, the man who created the character of Givens. In fact, he had also adapted Leonard's book Rum Punch into the movie Jackie Brown (1997). Further, Tarantino owns the rights to another story by Leonard—called the Forty Lashes Less One.
What do we know about 'Justified: City Primeval'?
As for the upcoming series, Justified: City Primeval is based on Leonard's 1980 novel, City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit. The show will feature Givens's life eight years after the original Justified ended its run in 2015. Now based in Miami, Givens is balancing life between being a marshal and a part-time father. FX, Sony Pictures Television, FX Productions announced the project last year.
Can Tarantino's 10th movie be remake of 'Reservoir Dogs'?
Focusing back on Tarantino, the 58-year-old has long said the 10th film of his career would become his swan song. In June 2021, Tarantino revealed he once toyed with the idea of releasing a remake of his debut movie Reservoir Dogs as his last offering. But he soon assured, "I won't do it, internet!" However, he has remained tight-lipped about what he might do.
