Bollywood celebrities have proven to be Salman Khan's best lawyers
For Salman Khan fans, his release from Jodhpur Central Jail after being convicted in 1998 blackbuck poaching case is equivalent to the release of his movie. On Thursday, the Bollywood superstar was handed five-years in prison, and he spent two nights in captivity. While Khan was inside, Bollywood stars aced at the art of defense, sometimes even at the cost of logic. Here are some gems.
When Jaya Bachchan used Salman Khan's humanitarian work card
To no surprise, 'Everybody makes mistakes' card was also played
Khan's fans fighting to defend him seems understandable (Except for that one joke which compared the killing of blackbucks to that of chicken). But, somehow Mahesh Manjrekar thought it was best to say this- "Salman is ready to take the rap, the blame. Who doesn't make a mistake? I definitely make a mistake. But when he makes one, it is blown out of proportion."
Salman Khan has suffered enough, argued Shatrughan Sinha
Shatrughan Sinha, whose voice of dissent against BJP grows louder day by day, somehow quite ironically felt the judiciary was harsh on Salman. Love for democracy, not-so-much for the judiciary, eh, Mr. Sinha? He said, "It's not just a five-year sentence that seems very harsh to me. It is actually twenty years since Salman has been in and out of Jodhpur courts and prison."
'Babuji' Alok Nath felt sorry for 'Prem' Salman Khan
Khan is free, for now, but Bollywood needs to learn
Speaking of 'unjust' treatment for Salman Khan comes easy to Bollywood stars. Others not so much. The collective sound that comes from Bollywood on pressing issues is usually mute. Barring stars like Shatrughan Sinha (who spoke about Padmavati), Farah Khan (who slammed Papon for kissing a minor), stars usually stay quiet on issues. Well, high time they spoke on subjects which matter.
