'Project K': What we know of Prabhas-Amitabh Bachchan's film
Prabhas is currently shooting for Project K alongside Bollywood stalwart Amitabh Bachchan. On Saturday, they filmed their first-ever shot which Prabhas and Bachchan shared gleefully on social media. Also starring Deepika Padukone, Project K is touted to be a sci-fi thriller and like any Prabhas-starrer these days, it is also being shot on a grand scale. Here's a complete round-up about the film.
Padukone's welcome kit had made headlines
Padukone commenced shooting last December. Her welcome kit had scorched headlines back then as it was pretty fitting to her South Indian roots. It had a Kanchipuram silk saree, kumkum, turmeric, bangles, and flowers, and a note that read, "To the daughter of the South, who's been ruling hearts globally. To the princess of the nation, who's cherished as a treasure. Welcome home DP!"
Shooting schedule, release date, roles
We don't yet know what the roles of the actors would be, but Bachchan's role is "pivotal" for the film, said reports. Makers are eyeing a summer release next year, so Project K (tentative title) may be out in April or May 2023. The brisk pace at which the shooting is taking place indicates the team might be able to meet that target.
Meet the crew of the film
Nag Ashwin is directing the film, while veteran helmer Singeetam Srinivasa Rao will be mentoring the team attached to the venture. Dani Sanchez Lopez has been given the responsibility of handling the camera, while Mickey J Meyer will direct the film's music. Hearsay has that its producer Ashwini Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies has allocated a mammoth budget of Rs. 500 crore for the film.
Other details of 'Project K'
In March last year, it was reported that the movie will be released in not just Indian languages like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, but also in English. Touted as the "biggest film of Indian cinema," Project K will focus on the struggle for survival in an apocalyptic world and heavily depend on VFX. It's currently being shot at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.
