'Project Artemis': Chris Evans-Scarlett Johansson to lead Apple TV+ film
Avengers co-stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson will finally share the screen again in Project Artemis. Jason Bateman of Ozark fame is set to direct the venture, rights to which were brought by Apple TV+, as per reports. While the duo had come close to co-starring in another Apple Studios project, titled Ghosted last year, things didn't work out. Thankfully, they did this time!
Why does this story matter?
Known for their decades-long friendship and having worked on several projects together, it was only time till the The Perfect Score co-stars collaborated again. In August last year, reports had speculated that MCU's Captain America and Black Widow were going to star together in Dexter Fletcher's romantic action-adventure Ghosted. However, Johansson backed off owing to scheduling conflicts, after which Ana de Armas came in.
Apple bought the package in $100M+ deal
According to Deadline, the portal that broke the news, things are pretty much confirmed about Project Artemis. Evans has also lent support to the report by sharing the article on Twitter. Apple apparently swooped in the package in a deal worth more than $100M. The Hollywood film's screenplay will be penned by Rose Gilroy, daughter of writer-director Dan Gilroy and actor René Russo.
What will be plot of 'Project Artemis'?
So what will be the film all about? The exact plot details are yet to be out. But Deadline says Bateman will focus on the space race in this one. Notably, Artemis is also the name of NASA's ongoing program that aims at returning astronauts to the lunar surface. We don't exactly know if the feature will be based on this.
Johansson, Apple also have 'Bride' under development
Johansson is producing along with Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn via their These Pictures banner. Bateman's Aggregate Films is also producing. Meanwhile, Johansson, who welcomed first child with Colin Jost last August. is acting and producing another Apple TV+ venture, Bride.
