Priyanka eyeing profit-share in next movie is a welcome change
Priyanka Chopra may soon become the first female Bollywood actress to get a profit share in a movie. Quoting a source, Mid-Day.com reported the global star is not looking for fees, but profit cut in her upcoming movie 'The Sky Is Pink'. Till now, only male superstars followed this trend but then Priyanka Chopra is known for breaking glass ceilings. Here's more about this.
Insider reveals why Priyanka wants profit share this time
'The Sky Is Pink' is directed by Shonali Bose and it will have Priyanka essaying the role of Zaira Wasim's mother. The source revealed, "Priyanka understood that if she needed to make this venture feasible, she couldn't command her regular fee." Further, he said the ratio of profit cut isn't finalized yet but the producers have been told about this development.
What is 'The Sky Is Pink' all about?
'The Sky Is Pink' is inspired by the life of Aisha Chaudhary, who defied all odds (she had an auto-immune deficiency order) to become a known motivational speaker. The movie also stars Farhan Akhtar in a pivotal role and will go on floors next year.
Has this plan been tried before? Looking back
Reportedly, Deepika Padukone wanted a profit cut for 'Padmaavat' but was given a hefty fee instead. She got more than Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. The superstars Akshay Kumar and the three Khans follow this model, but none of the actresses has ever opted this. Considering the glaring pay gap in Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra is surely setting the right example.
Meanwhile, Priyanka's personal life is making headlines
Just like her movie choices, Priyanka's personal life is hogging a lot of attention. Her affair with Nick Jonas is being widely dissected by global media, and she has now said they are getting to know each other. Apart from 'The Sky Is Pink', PeeCee also has Ali Abbas Zafar's next 'Bharat' in her kitty, which features Salman Khan.
