Priyanka confirms her next is on Osho-disciple Ma Anand Sheela
Priyanka Chopra is on top of her game these days. The actress, who is currently enjoying her marital bliss, is all set for her fourth Hollywood project. She made the announcement during her second appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed that she is looking forward to making a biopic on Ma Anand Sheela, the controversial disciple of late spiritual leader Osho.
Who is Ma Anand Sheela?
Sheela Ambalal Patel, popularly known as Ma Anand Sheela, was the closest aide of self-styled Bhagwan Rajneesh aka Osho. She created a whole cult in the US and bought 64,000 acres of land in Oregon for the same. Sheela used to handle Osho's ashram single-handedly and was said to be his right hand. However, in 1985, she pleaded guilty of wiretapping the cult's ashram.
Ma Anand Sheela was reintroduced by Netflix documentary
Sheela, who has been away from the limelight for a while now, was back in the headlines with Netflix's documentary Wild Wild Country. In this six-part documentary series, Sheela spoke about Osho, Rajneeshpuram and drug scandals. Sheela also revealed how she parted ways with Osho, and that she was later accused of several crimes, including mass poisonings.
Priyanka's film will be directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson
Priyanka will be developing Wild Wild Country into a feature film. The movie will be helmed by Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson. She is quite excited to portray the controversial figure of Ma Anand Sheela on the big screen. "I am developing that next for me to star in and produce," she informed. Notably, this will be her second biopic after Omung Kumar's Mary Kom.
With this Priyanka embarks on her fourth Hollywood film
Notably, this will be PeeCee's fourth Hollywood movie. The 36-year-old actress has already become a household name in US with her much popular Quantico series. Her ground became more solid after she was praised for her performances in movies such as Baywatch and A Kid Like Jake. Her third Hollywood venture, Isn't It Romantic, will be releasing on February 28.
Priyanka is also working on 'The Sky is Pink'
Meanwhile, Priyanka will also be making a comeback in Bollywood with Shonali Bose's directorial The Sky Is Pink. The Sky Is Pink is based on motivational speaker Aisha Chaudhary who died of pulmonary fibrosis. The movie also stars Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim, Rohit Saraf in pivotal roles. The team will shoot the final schedule of the movie in Andaman and Nicobar Islands mid-February.
