Priyanka talks about 'breaking the glass ceiling'
International icon Priyanka Chopra was invited in the national capital on Tuesday to deliver the Penguin Annual Lecture on the topic, 'Breaking the Glass Ceiling, Chasing a Dream'. The actor was chosen by Penguin Random House India to deliver their annual lecture. While some criticized Penguin for choosing Priyanka, others lauded her for being an amazing speaker. Here's what she spoke about.
On being the only woman
Recently, Priyanka featured on number seven in the Forbes list of 100 celebrities, with an annual income of $10 million. On being the only woman in the list, she said, "I was not born with a silver spoon and I worked really hard to be where I am today. I am proud to be the only woman on the men's only list."
On the Padmavati row
Priyanka, who is known for not mincing her words, had a rather subtle take on 'Padmavati'. She said, "I feel like I should call Deepika and Sanjay sir and tell my opinion to them. I called them and told I stand by them and hope that audience gets to see the film. The art that SLB believes in should be viewed by everyone."
On women facing problems at workplaces
Female actors in Hollywood have opened up about their dark experiences with male counterparts. In that context, Priyanka was asked if that has struck a chord with women in Bollywood as well. "Not just Bollywood, I think it has struck a chord with everyone. #MeToo got popular not just in America but all over the world," she said.
