'Can't match expectations but...': Priyadarshan on reuniting with Akshay Kumar
Acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan and Bollywood star Akshay Kumar are all set to collaborate on a new horror-comedy flick, Bhooth Bangla, after a 14-year hiatus. The announcement has sparked high anticipation among fans. However, in a recent interview with PTI, Priyadarshan expressed concerns about meeting these heightened expectations. He said, "Every film I've made with him has been a superhit... We can't match the expectations (of the audience), but I'm trying my best."
Priyadarshan praised Kumar's dedication and discipline
Priyadarshan, who has previously worked with Kumar on successful films like De Dana Dan and Garam Masala, lauded the actor as a "director's delight." He said, "He is a disciplined actor. After Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan), he is one of the most dedicated actors, and he comes on time. He listens to the director."
Priyadarshan expressed confidence in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan is super excited about the upcoming third part of the horror-comedy series Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which is set to hit theaters during Diwali 2024. He directed the first part, starring Kumar and Vidya Balan. When it comes to Anees Bazmee's work on the sequels, he said, "Anees Bazmee did a good job with the second part... I think he will do well with the third part too."
'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' to feature Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri
The third installment of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, helmed by Bazmee, is all set to feature Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri. The film will also see the return of Balan to the franchise, reprising her iconic role as Manjulika from the 2007 blockbuster. Aaryan took to Instagram to express his excitement about Balan's return, stating, "And it's happening. OG Manjulika is coming back... This Diwali is going to be crackling!"
Priyadarshan's stance on directing sequels of his films
Even though his films have done really well, Priyadarshan doesn't seem keen on directing any sequels. He said, "I believe a movie can be (only) made once and when the film really works well, people enjoy it... That's the criticism we face. I think it is better to make one film than to make sequels." The last time he worked with Kumar was on the 2010 film Khatta Meetha, which was a political satire.
