Prince William likely to exclude Harry from coronation amid rift
The royal rift between Prince William and Prince Harry has deepened in recent years—thanks to Harry's book Spare, the Oprah Winfrey interview, and the Harry & Meghan Netflix documentary. Per reports, William is particularly irked by the accusations of his wife Kate Middleton's alleged indifference toward Meghan Markle. As the countdown to William's eventual coronation begins, palace insiders suggest that the Prince of Wales—who rarely talks about Harry—is likely to exclude his brother from the historic event.
Harry has infamously criticized his family
A source told The Times the once close brothers have reportedly not been in touch since Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022. Since stepping back from his royal duties and moving to California in 2020, Harry has publicly criticized his family. He is estranged not only from his brother but also from their father, King Charles III, who ascended to the throne following Queen Elizabeth II's death in 2022.
Harry's actions viewed as 'outrageously disloyal'
Royal sources described Harry's actions as "outrageously disloyal," according to The Times. They believe that Harry and Markle could have left the royal family with dignity and decency, instead of tarnishing its reputation. "The conclusion is they've made money from trashing his family," a source said. A friend of Harry's revealed that the prince seems frustrated and dissatisfied with how things have unfolded.
However, per a royal expert, there's still hope
Meanwhile, one close pal of William earlier told Sunday Times that the brothers' estrangement is "dreadfully sad." Despite this, royal author Christopher Andersen remains hopeful that William will eventually extend an olive branch to Harry during the coronation. "Despite all the bad blood, I'm convinced that, when the time does come, William will not be foolish enough to exclude his only sibling, now fifth in line to the throne, from his coronation," he told Fox News.
