Prince Harry and Meghan Markle venture into reality TV
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are set to enter the world of reality television. After stepping back from their royal duties in 2020, they relocated to California. Now, the couple has announced two nonfiction series that will be aired on Netflix under their production company, Archewell Productions.
Details of the Sussexes's upcoming Netflix series
The first series will feature Markle, known for her role in Suits, as she delves into cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship. The second show will revolve around professional polo. Both series are part of the couple's deal with Netflix under their production house.
Markle will also act as executive producer on lifestyle show
The lifestyle series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television's Intellectual Property Corporation, known for shows like The D'Amelio Show and Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath. Leah Hariton from Selena + Chef will serve as showrunner, while Michael Steed from My Next Guest Needs No Introduction will direct. Markle will also act as an executive producer.
Polo series production will be handled by both Sussexes
The polo-centered series will be backed by Boardwalk Pictures, known for Chef's Table, Pepsi, Where's My Jet?, and Sex, Love & Goop. Milos Balac from FX's Welcome to Wrexham will act as showrunner. Prince Harry and Markle will serve as executive producers through Archewell Productions.
Sussexes's other ventures and future plans
Reality shows aside, the couple has several other projects underway. Markle recently announced a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, offering products from organic fruit jams to jewelry and cookbooks. The Sussexes are also planning to adapt the New York Times best-selling romantic novel Meet Me at the Lake into a Netflix film. The novel is said to revolve around a couple who cross paths in their 30s and deals with themes like childhood trauma, mental health, and post-natal depression.
