Prateik-Priya respond to Babbar family's absence at wedding
What's the story
Actors Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee, who recently got married in a private ceremony on Valentine's Day, have now addressed the rumors of close family members being absent from the wedding.
The couple decided to get married in a house once owned by Babbar's late mother, legendary actor Smita Patil.
Speculation of a family rift arose due to Babbar's father Raj Babbar and half-siblings Aarya and Juhi Babbar's absence.
Family presence
'Everyone who mattered was there': Banerjee
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Banerjee clarified that no major family member was missing from their wedding.
She said, "There was absolutely no family member who was missing from the wedding or our celebrations."
"Our families were there including my parents, his aunts who raised him, his nana-nani, and everyone who mattered and is family was with us. And there was absolutely nobody who is family was missing."
Family discord
Earlier, half-brother Aarya claimed Babbar was influenced by someone
Meanwhile, Aarya was disappointed over not being invited to the wedding. He told ETimes, "Nobody from the Babbar family was invited—not even my father."
He also hinted at external influence on Babbar, saying that someone has overpowered his brain too much.
After the wedding, Aarya further criticized Babbar's decision as disrespectful to his late mother Patil.
Couple's perspective
Meanwhile, the newly-wed couple is blissful
Despite the family controversy, both Babbar and Banerjee have been happy with their marital status.
Banerjee revealed that being married to Babbar didn't feel any different since they had been together for almost five years.
Echoing her sentiments, Babbar added a philosophical touch by saying, "It felt like I was doing this for the thousandth time. This was like another lifetime, another universe."
New chapter
Babbar's 2nd marriage and tribute to late mother
This is Babbar's second marriage after his first one with Sanya Sagar. As he starts this new chapter with Banerjee, the actor still honors his mother's memory by adding 'Patil' to his surname, now called Prateik Patil Babbar.
For their wedding attire, the couple wore ethereal ensembles by designer Tarun Tahiliani and jewelry from Khurana Jewellery House.
