'Saaho' enters Rs. 100 crore club on first day itself
Prabhas starrer Saaho, which opened to scathing reviews, surprisingly has taken over the box office with a storm. According to recent reports, the movie entered the coveted Rs. 100 crore club within a day of its release. Saaho, which is touted as the "biggest action entertainer of the year," grossed over Rs. 130 crore worldwide (across all languages) on the first day. Here's more.
"Hindi version has done far better than Telugu, Tamil versions"
Talking about its box office collection, trade analyst Trinath stated that the pre-release hype and Prabhas' popularity helped it in doing a phenomenal business on the first day, especially the Hindi version. "The Hindi version has done far better than Telugu and Tamil versions. Thanks to the Hindi version, the film will have a great opening weekend at the ticket window," he said.
'Saaho' happens to be Prabhas' first project after 'Baahubali'
Notably, Saaho was one of the most anticipated movies of the year. After all, it was Prabhas' first release after his stupendously successful 2017 release Baahubali: The Conclusion. Besides, it also marked Shraddha Kapoor's debut in the Telugu industry.
'Saaho' is expected to cross Rs. 70cr in opening weekend
Now, despite the negative reviews, Saaho continues to attract moviegoers pan India, and the box office numbers prove that. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Hindi version of the movie has minted Rs. 49.60 crore so far. In fact, given its mass popularity, Saaho is expected to cross Rs. 70 crore mark in the opening weekend in India.
'Saaho' continues its winning momentum at box office
Online leak might affect the box office collection
Meanwhile, Saaho also became the recent target of piracy. The movie was leaked online by Tamilrockers within hours of its theatrical release and was available for free download on torrent websites. It is reported that the online leak is likely to affect the box office collections of this much-anticipated release of the year, which was made on a staggering budget of Rs. 350 crore.
'Saaho,' 'Baahubali' different from each other, argues director Sujeeth
Interestingly, given the staggering budget of the movie, Saaho was often compared to Rajamouli's Baahubali franchise. However, director Sujeeth argues that both movies are quite different from each other. "That's how Prabhas wanted it to be," he said. Apart from Shraddha and Prabhas, Saaho also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff, Mandira Bedi, Chunky Panday and Mahesh Manjrekar in pivotal roles.
