Bhatt and Shetty have previously collaborated in the 1997 war film Border, directed by JP Dutta, although they did not share screen space. Separately, in a statement, Bhatt hinted at a fresh portrayal of her character in this project. She said, "I have always had the privilege and made the choice to portray empowered women on screen. I was immediately drawn to this character for the sheer power, depth & empathy she exudes."
