Pooja Bhatt and Suniel Shetty collaborate for Lionsgate India's project
Actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt is set to star with Suniel Shetty in an upcoming project by Lionsgate India. The news was announced by Bhatt via social media on Friday. Sharing a photo, she wrote, "A sneak peek from my next project with @lionsgateindia. So looking forward to working with you again @suniel.shetty." It remains unclear whether this venture is a film or a series.
Bhatt and Shetty's previous collaboration and new character portrayal
Bhatt and Shetty have previously collaborated in the 1997 war film Border, directed by JP Dutta, although they did not share screen space. Separately, in a statement, Bhatt hinted at a fresh portrayal of her character in this project. She said, "I have always had the privilege and made the choice to portray empowered women on screen. I was immediately drawn to this character for the sheer power, depth & empathy she exudes."
Bhatt's character resonates with her personal beliefs
Bhatt further elaborated on her character's traits, stating that her ability to stand up for her beliefs and face challenges head-on resonated with her personally. Moreover, Shetty had previously hinted at his collaboration with Lionsgate India by uploading a photo from the sets and revealing that the project may be in the action genre. Bhatt was most recently seen in Amazon Prime Video's coming-of-age drama series Big Girls Don't Cry, while Shetty had a cameo in Ruslaan, released last month.
