'PM Narendra Modi' actor Prashant Narayanan arrested in cheating case
Prashant Narayanan, who is known for his roles in Murder 2, PM Narendra Modi, has been arrested by Kerala Police in a cheating case. According to media reports, the actor and his wife Shona were accused of cheating by a Malayalam film producer, Thomas Panicker. The reports further suggested that the court has sent the couple in judicial custody till September 20. Here's more.
Panicker was cheated of Rs. 1.20 crore by the couple
Reportedly, Panicker alleged that he was cheated of Rs. 1.20 crore by the couple. It all started after the actor worked for a movie in 2017, which was produced by Panicker. "After the film, Panicker was told that his (Prashant) wife's father had a company in Mumbai, and if he invested in it, he would be made a director," a police official stated.
Prashant, his wife charged under IPC sections 420 and 406
"Panicker invested Rs. 1.20 crore and after that, he came to know he was cheated. He then filed the complaint," inspector A. Prathap from Kerala police stated. Reportedly, Prashant and his wife were charged under IPC sections 420 (cheating), and 406 (criminal breach of trust).
Seven-member team visited Mumbai to arrest Prashant, his wife
Speaking about the arrest, Prathap revealed that he along with a seven-member team visited Mumbai for the same. After surveillance of three days, the team managed to get a hold of the actor and his wife on September 4. The accused were later brought to Kerala on a transit warrant, after which the Thalassery Additional Judicial Magistrate court granted their judicial remand.
