Steven Knight, the creator of the popular historical gangster drama Peaky Blinders, has revealed details about the upcoming Netflix movie adaptation.
Speaking to The Post, Knight revealed the film's storyline will be set during World War II.
"It's the Second World War, so [Tommy Shelby] is facing the Nazis, the enemy at the time in the 1940s," he said.

Knight further elaborated on the challenges faced by Tommy Shelby, played by Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, during this period.
He explained that Britain was battling against Germans and Italians before America's involvement in the war, putting Shelby in a precarious situation.
The creator also hinted at Shelby's struggles, stating that he will confront his own demons "in his particular way."

'Peaky Blinders' movie will have follow-ups, confirms Knight
However, Knight has confirmed that the upcoming movie won't end the Peaky Blinders saga. He said it would bring an end to "this part" of the story but assured fans that the story would continue in some form.
"There is such a voracious appetite for the Peaky world. So I feel that we continue it," he told The Post.
"We will continue to tell that story, as long as there is a story to tell," he added.

The upcoming Peaky Blinders movie will see new faces, including Barry Keoghan and Dune star Rebecca Ferguson.
Considering the WWII backdrop, it is speculated that Sam Claflin may reprise his role as Oswald Mosley, a key ally of Hitler and leader of the British Union of Fascists.
There are also expectations for Tom Hardy's return as Jewish gangster Alfie Solomons. However, Paul Anderson's involvement remains uncertain due to legal issues; he was convicted in a drug case last year.
