'Batman 2' pushed to 2027, Pattinson expresses frustration
What's the story
Robert Pattinson, the star of Matt Reeves's blockbuster 2022 film The Batman, has openly lamented the delayed production of its sequel.
The second installment was originally scheduled for a 2026 release but has now been pushed to October 1, 2027.
Officially, the delay is due to Reeves still finalizing the script, but some fans speculate it's a strategic move by DC Studios to further develop their newly created DC Cinematic Universe (DCU).
Actor's statement
'I'm going to be old Batman by the sequel'
In a chat with Hero Magazine, Pattinson didn't shy away from expressing his annoyance at the delay.
He jokingly said, "I started out as young Batman and I'm going to be f***ing old Batman by the sequel."
The remark underscores his worry about how the delayed schedule would affect his rendition of the legendary superhero character.
New project
Meanwhile, DC Studios is developing a separate 'Batman' project
While fans and Pattinson await The Batman 2, DC Studios is also working on another Batman project, The Brave and the Bold.
The film will delve into Bruce Wayne's relationship with his estranged son, Damian Wayne, who takes on the role of Robin.
The studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently looking for an actor to play the DCU's Batman for the film.

Pattinson's upcoming film and 'The Batman' franchise's future
Meanwhile, Pattinson is currently promoting his upcoming sci-fi film Mickey 17, helmed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon-ho. The movie will premiere on Friday.
Notably, Reeves's The Batman and its spinoffs, such as The Penguin series, will not be a part of the DCU but will be a part of a separate cinematic universe called the "Batman Epic Crime Saga."
