Did you know Parineeti was the first choice for 'Piku'
We often see stars juggling from one movie to another, and sometimes being replaced even when the groundwork of the movies is laid. Like how Priyanka Chopra opted out of Salman Khan's Bharat and Shraddha Kapoor left Saina Nehwal's biopic. But did you know Deepika Padukone was not the first choice for Shoojit Sircar's Piku (2015)? It was Parineeti Chopra. Yes, it actually happened!
"I didn't really turn down the film. There was confusion"
While talking to Neha Dhupia on a chat show (BFFs With Vogue), Parineeti, who is currently undergoing training for Saina Nehwal's biopic, said she regretted losing the film to Deepika. "I didn't really turn down the film... there was confusion. I was going to do another film at the same time. Then that film also didn't happen, so it was my loss," she said.
Deepika played the role of Piku with perfection
Now after watching Piku, it's hard to picture Parineeti playing the titular role with élan, as Deepika did. The latter's chemistry with her onscreen father Amitabh Bachchan, and Irrfan Khan was incredible. She played the role of a caring daughter who abides by her responsibilities perfectly. Moreover, the crazy road trip to Kolkata in the movie was also well received by moviegoers.
Biggest compliment Deepika received after the success of 'Piku'
During a 2015 interview, Deepika was overwhelmed by the response she received from the audience. "Multiple people have told me that they want to adopt me after watching Piku, and that's very overwhelming," she said. Notably, the actress was not expecting such a response.
Parineeti has several projects to work on right now
As far as work is concerned, Pari is gearing up for Jabariya Jodi with Sidharth Malhotra and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar with Arjun Kapoor. She will also be seen in the remake of the English film The Girl On The Train, where she will play the character of Emily Blunt. Moreover, she has also been roped in for Bhuj: The Pride of India (2020).
